This manga-style version of Édouard Manet’s Le déjeuner sur l’herbe was drawn by our Italian exchange student, Arianna. Unfortunately, another (prudish?) student roughly added clothes to the image of the female before I could scan Arianna’s sketch. This adding of clothing reminds me of a case back in 1995 in which a Hong Kong magazine was charged with publishing obscene materials—photos of Michelangelo’s statue of David (http://articles.latimes.com/1995-07-30/news/mn-29399_1). The magazine succesfully appealed the ruling.
